About Us

Fern Hills Customs is a small family owned shop based in New Carlisle, Ohio just outside of Dayton. With a high passion and love for hunting and recreational gun use, their shop opened nearly a decade ago. It has been closed to the public while working for manufactures doing California compliant work, modifications for exportation, and small repairs. 

Jake Klarer has been a certified gunsmith since November 2007. He attended and graduated from the Colorado School of Trades and worked for a local outdoors store as the lead gunsmith. Greg Klarer has maintained a life long job as a machinist assisting Jake with the business. 

In 2017, the business Jake was working for closed its doors and the father and son went public with their business and is now operating full time. FHC understands what your guns mean to you and this small business won't let you walk away without being extremely satisfied. Whether it's a small repair or a custom build, Fern Hills Customs is ready to help maintain and improve your firearms.
